When rebuilding these engines, do you guys replace the needle bearings on the connecting rods AND the needle bearings on the wrist pin? Is there any reason to remove the pistons from the connecting rods or just replace the pistons without taking out the wrist pin?

Thanks,

Jim

Re: Inline 6 Rebuild Question

Jim, I would not remove a wrist pin unless I needed a new piston. I remove all connecting rods from the crank, and eep the roller bearings and cages together is dixie cups marked 1-6. I do not use the 6 ring compressors lie Merc specifies, so, I need to remove the rods, and install all six pistons, and then install the connecting rod bearibngs with heavy grease to stick 'em.
