It's looking REAL good. Our offer has been accepted and Mortgage Company has sent a "pre-approval" letter to the escrow company... looks like I'll be fishing Ten Mile and I have gobs of questions (no Lubedude, I'll never be a competitor, or ask when, where, how, or what to fish with 8)

All of my Q's involve Lake conditions... I know it's a shallow lake, I Googled it and all the info I could glean said average depth was 12', unless that puppy is dead flat on the bottom, with no stumps, shoals, structure, etc. sticking up...how do you get around on that lake?... anyone know of a Map source with average depth, like you have with the ocean charts?

A shallow lake here on the coast brings up wind induced waves and chop. I fished Clear Lake in Northern California (another shallow lake) and that chop would get extreme with just a little bit of wind... It was nothing to see 2' rollers about 5' apart...will my 15' tri-hull deal with this lake?... I have a good running 80 HP and a 6HP trolling, but I'm wondering if the boat is big enough for the lake.

Thanx in advance,
Eric

The average depth is more than 12', but not much more. There is lots of structure, and no stumps as it`s a natual lake. You will never learn the lake in your lifetime, I have fished it for over 40 years and I still find new places to fish. Between the North and the South lake it has over 175 Miles of shoreline. Your boat will be perfect for these Lakes.

This lake doesn`t get very rough, 1' chop at best, boats kick up more than that.

Don`t worry about asking me questions, I`ll tell ya all I know. We can wet a line sometime.

Thanx for the reassurance, I guess the shape of the lake (all fingers) keeps the chop down... I was afraid it was going to be out at the crack of dawn, and your day was over by 9:00 am.

When we were shopping for a house the main priorities were, nice neighborhood, sound home, enough land to have a shop for my biz (I'm a small job contractor and this property has a 24x45 shop on it, and all mine, wife says all I have to do is build her a 1 car attached garage this winter... fair trade I think  , and hopefully not so many projects around the house so we can have our weekends off...nice if that works out.

I've been trying to get a fishing lic. for 4 years, but with my biz and rebuilding our present home it would have been a waste, I hardly have time to scratch... Wetting a line with you would be just what my therapist would order 8)

Do they have charts/maps of the Lakes, other than the generic kind like you can get as a dining place mat at the Resort? I've used Google maps in Satellite mode to look the Lake over but a paper chart/map of the Lake would be a good planning tool.

Best regards,
Eric

As far as a chart map of this lake, it would be a waist. Totally a flat bottom from years of silt, best is to just run around and find which points protude the farthest out.

This lake can fluctuate as much as 12-14 feet, in the winter it`s not uncommon for the boat ramp area to flood to a certain degree. Hard to imagine looking at it now. The deepest place on the lake is right out from the public dock and ramp a little south east off that rocky point, it`s about 10' deeper than the rest of the the lake at any given time. Right now it`s about 24'.

You have picked a great place to settle providing you are not facing the North as the wind will hit you in the face all afternoon in the summer. It`s always about 10 degrees warmer than Northbend Coos Bay. Our flowers winter over almost every year. If it`s a 100 degrees inland along I-5, it`s about 75-80 here.

Looking forward to meeting you.

Write this # down. Call me when you are in town.

LOL... know all about North wind, where we live now it will blow your hair off.

When we looked at the property it was blowing about 25 or 30 on the beach, just a pleasant swirling breeze in the yard... house is on South side of low hill. Who cares what it does in the winter, won't be out in it anyway (first year here we got 100+ sideways to the mobile... before I got it tied down, rock-and-roll :)

Got your number, will call when we move. Probably won't be till next summer before I get the boat in the water as it has rotten floor and a few cracks that I'll be fixing this winter... already opened it up, not rotten stringers or transom.
