I recently bought a Merc Classic 50 outboard year 80s. It is a non power trim model.<br /> I unfamiliar with Merc motors, but I notice the motor does not have any 'strut type' rams. My old Mariner 55hp Jap made outboard had 2 rams one on each side.<br />So my question is do these Mercury motors just fall down 'swiftly with a large thud' when lowering the leg into the water as there is nothing to slow the drop?<br /><br />Question 2. Can a power tilt trim unit be fitted to these motors easily?
