info for removing lower unit on mariner outboard

I have a 1983 9.9E Mariner Outboard motor. After following the instructions in the repair manual to remove the lower unit from the intermediate unit, the lower will not separate. Does anyone have any suggestions? I need to replace the water pump...Thanks.

Is there an anode on the bottom of the LU if so remove it there is another nut under it

Did you separate the shift linkage in lower unit inspect plate on side

yes, i did separate the shift linkage and removed all bolts etc as the repair manual states. IT WONT BUDGE!!! lol Anyone else have a suggestion? Thanks for the info.
