My nephew has been trying to convince me to buy an action cam for the boat, to record our Canada trip, and outings with his kids.

If I do, it will need to be cheap, like me.

Any experience with these? Recommendations?

1 battery enough, or do I need a spare?

A few I have seen come with a remote control, desirable?

Not looking to put it in the water, just on the dash, maybe on a Ram-mount.

Field of view. 90* 120* 140* ???

Looking at $55-$100 units.

Re: Inexpensive ACTION Camera

We have a GoPro Hero 3 Black for action and high speed recording at work. Great little camera, however it was $400 for the camera and about $300 worth of accessories. We needed the 120 frames per second to capture a few anomalies. I love it because we can control from the phone app.

if your taking a lot of video, you will need a second battery (even a third)

you can get the Hero 3 White (lower resolution, less frames per second) for about $200.

For Home use, I have a sony handycam. they make a version in a water proof exo-skeleton for about $200

I do not think you will find a decent camera for $55-$100. come on now, the camera should cost more than a tank of gas or feeding 5 at McDonalds. your recording memories
