I have an 85hp Suzuki outboard and want to install a separate in line fuel filter. Exactly where should it be placed in the fuel system? #1 Between tank and fuel squeeze bulb. #2 Between squeeze bulb and motor connection. #3 Between motor connection and fuel pump. #4 Between fuel pump and carbs. Thanks for you help.

I don't think it makes a lot of difference, Raider. I have a water sep./filter mounted between the primer bulb and the engine. Works fine.

Red sky at night. . .
JB

Ive never seen one inside the motor, and dont think Id want one there. Anywhere convenient outside is fine. Make sure no leaks. Those cheap small inline filters with the glass body are a little scary, but Ive never seen one break. Hard to beat a Racor, Im always amazed at the water I accumulate over time.

Had a heck of a time keeping pressure in my bulb when the filter was after the bulb.Switched it below the bulb today and worked great, the filter remained full of fuel too.
