In-Hull transducer mounting question

I just purchased an 88' SeaRay 18' "Seville" Bow Rider/Outboard. I would like to mount a "In-Hull" (not thru-hull) transducer in the bilges (I was told you epoxy it inside the hull somewhere near the stearn). Has any of you ever done this? Does it work? All suggestions and advice appreciated.
Thanks.........

Re: In-Hull transducer mounting question

I have mine shooting thru the hull but not epoxied to the hull. It seems to work fine but I use it more for navigation than finding fish so detail is less important to me. I've read that the gain may need to be increased but it should work fine.

Re: In-Hull transducer mounting question

Many, if not most, factory installs are shoot through installations. Should be near centerline and somewhere around 8" to 15" from transom. Use slow cure epoxy and mix gently to avoid air in the mixture. Build a little circular "dam" at the chosen hull location to hold about 1/8" of epoxy in place and lightly sand contact surface of the transducer for good stick. Place transducer and weight it with something until cured to insure no voids.
