Hello all!
Did anyone hear about this fumigation system?
They say that it cuts 25% off fuel consumption, cuts off maintenance costs, improves engine power, reduces engine break downs, reduces air pollution smoke smell and noise, reduces engine temperature, keeps engine head clean etc.
Does anyone have experience with this?
Thanks,
Mike

Are You,....." They ",.. by any chance..???

Over at the Hot Rod Diesel Pickup boards,
Lot's of Guys are running LP for Added Horsepower........

Never really heard about Any of the claims You're asking about though........

Propane is a Nasty Volatile Fuel that's a Real Pain to manage.....
Hard to Store...
Hard to get to Refills....
Heavier than Air, equals Explosive in a Boat Hull..... That in it self makes it a Less than desireable Boating Fuel.......

When I get to the point that i'm running Diesel Engines,+ have Finally gotten Away from Gasoline,........
There's No Way I'm going to Add a Highly Volatile Fuel that's Darn near Impossible to Store,+ Handle on a Boat............

heh, heh, heh.. . think he's selling something Bondo?

LPG is actually only explosive in just the right concentrations, I forget exactly, but it's around 4-10% mixed with air... Even still, I wouldnt chance it on my boat....

here are some of the inherent problems with it.
http://www.go-lpg.co.uk/diesel.html
looks like to much sugar for a dime. better ways to make power and here LPG is almost double the price of fuel.

hello
again
not to appear one sided.
http://www.radisol.com/dieseldynamics/benefit-summary.htm#top
looks like a cool setup. we used to run a fleet of gasoline/lp trucks. LP sometimes just did not make enough power but with the flick of a switch it was back on gasoline. I can tell you that LP engines are super clean at tear down and inspection intravels.

Propane/Butane (LPG) is just about on par with gasoline as far as BTU's (read power) per gallon goes.

CNG/LNG (natural gas) is another story.

A propane engine fuel system on a boat? Not me. A BBQ hung over the side-OK.

Propane in diesels can also cause some SEVERE detonation problems, if not handled properly.

its commonly used in country where gas/petrol costs "real" money..

running an american gas guzzleing power boat in the UK costs a little too much.. LPG conversion make a lot of sense from a cost point of view

in the UK we have road diesel and off-road or "red" diesel.. the road stuff carries a heavy tax just like petrol.. off-road diesel dosnt.. boats at present are allowed to use off-road diesel..

diesel powered boats costs about a quarter the cost of running on petrol.. LPG comes in about the same as off-road diesel..

we have folks offering "safe" LPG boat conversions from about £2000 and upwards.. the problem for inland boats is that we are not allowed to have twin fuel sytems petrol and LPG for example..

trog100
