impeller shaft seal... cobra

I noticed a slight oil leak on the impeller shaft. I bought all the o-ring, gaskets and seal. I removed the seal from the adapter plate and know I'm second guessing myself as to which way it goes back in. I'm looking at the manuel and am 95% sure as to which way it goes. Its that 5% thats killing me. 1987 Cobra 4.3

Thanks Lark40 this is the same diagram I have. The **** seal looks like an ant
