Impeller Replacement on Evinrude 2000 15 hp 4 stroke

My motor is no longer streaming water.

I have removed the 4 bolts to pull the lower unit off - but am unable to determine how to disconnect the linkage.

Is the linkage connection on the top of the motor?

Also- what is best practice for replacments to get all broken pieces of impeller out - Or is there a flushing procedure?

any other gotchas?

Drop the lower unit about 1/2", then disconnect by completely removing one of the connector screws. If any impeller bits not found, try rmove hose #79 in the diagram and back-flush when gearcase is down.

If its like mine, I remove 55 & 60 from the shift rod up top as well as the bolts on the lower unit housing and it slides right out. http://www.marineengine.com/parts/jo...p;+Crankcase
