I remember reading somewhere on here that when installing the impeller, it didn't matter which way the vanes "faced" as they would seat themselves the first time you run it. Is this an accurate statement?

don't know, but if yer rotateing the drive shaft clockwise during the install of the houseing, the blades of the impeller will be faceing the correct way. a note in service manual #6 states that the curl of the blades is to the counterclockwise direction. hence, rotateing the shaft clockwise during install..... why take a chance of having to have the impeller blades flip the correct direction. install it correctly and ya won't have to wonder if they'll flip back to correct or not....

Yes, they will flip over to the proper direction on the Alpha I's and any with the short vanes on the impellers. Drives like the Alpha I Gen II with the longer vaned impeller will not.
