Hello,

I melted the impeller on my Merc 150, 1991 V6.
Yes, give me the Dunce Cap award.

I have the lower end off and I am looking at the
impeller. How the hell do you get the thing off?
Does it slide up the shaft? Or do I need to pull the
shaft out of the lower unit and then slide it off the bottom. If yes How I do I get the shaft out. If no, then why the heck won't the old impeller slide up the shaft.

It is melted to hell and back.

Oh help me please! I am frustrated.

TFN.

It should slide.

If it's melted badly you may have to cut it in pieces to get it off. MIND THE SHAFT, though.

Go get your new impeller so you can get a good look at what the metal part that sits on the shaft looks like.. Then lay a hacksaw on the top of the melted one and just follow the shaft as you cut.. once you get the first section cut you can pry it off with a screwdriver.. Check your pump for burnt spots... I would replace the pump housing on any time I melted an impeller...
