I know some fine people, (some right here on the forums) That will or have allready voted for Kerry Edwards.

Now how can that be possible?

The liberal side is despicable IMHO. They are so far left, they are to the point of socialist. They do not even know the party they are voting for and all they see is a few mistakes they see in there eyes, and they are willing to throw the baby out with the bathwater to elect someone with no back bone, hasnt even got a clue as to what is going on, and wants the United Nations to tell us what we can do and cant do. They alien themselves with the ignorant entertainment gang that most have no post highschool education, havnt worked a real job in there lives and do not have a clue and are the very ones that have ruined Oregons economy.

Like I said, I dont get it. Talk about being blinded, and thats how I really feel.

I feel your pain, L'dude. I've posted much about why people vote liberal. Never got any of them to admit it but I have no doubt in the accuracy of my reasoning. You should lurk around down here, a bit more. Maybe I could teach ya a thang or three. :D

No rose colored glasses here, Snapperbait. There is plenty not pleasing re the current administration. Problem is that very few people are lookin thru the drops on the windshield and seein the root philosophies of the opposition.

If you want this country to be driven farther to the left, into the waiting arms of the anything goes crowd and of the world government advocates, then you go ahead and show your lack of historical perspective and vote for the guilt ridden, egotistical socialist.

Re: Im sorry, but I just dont get it!

Socialism never works. Look historically at the markets in Russia, Venezuela, Puru, and many others...

Bush has one of the most basic economic assumptions down pat... Who better can decided where and how to spend MY money than ME?
Don't think for a second that taxes aren't going to be increased for the middle class either. Where do you think the rich are going to put their money when their taxes go up? The government is going to come after us in the middle class to get their money.

Here's a bit of history for you tax and spend socialist's out there: Do you know the history of tax? It started in England as voluntary to take care of the basic needs of the community. Turns out the government got used to getting their money, and when people started slowing up on their payments...taxes became manditory. Problem is, they didn't know how to tax back then (and obviously some still don't) so they took a vote. All of the poor thought they shouldn't pay anything...'tax the rich was the consensus.' Now the rich don't want to pay these taxes, so they take their money out of that economy, eventually leaving the government dry of their money. Who did they start taxing? Guess. The lower classes brought it all on themselves. Take away a man's incentive to earn (by making it harder to earn additional profit) and you take his money out of that market. If Kerry wins on Tuesday, history will likely repeat itself.

What is sad is that Kerry has all of these uneducated (and I am not only talking about schooling here either), spoiled, out of touch with reality superstars campaigning for him. The sad part is that these people don't have the slightest of what makes our economy work, have distorted views of the war, and no concept of government. People will vote for Kerry because "p-diddy told me to."

Made simple- Vote for Kerry if you want less of you paycheck, a weaker military, and a 'leader' who will have to ask the 'leaders' of other countries for permission to wipe his own butt much less fight for our protection.

Birds of a feather flock together. Some people honestly believe the government can run their lives better than they do.

Ken

A coworker just walked past my desk (he is a Kerry supporter no less!!) and said that they have just discovered that Kerry may not even have a Honorable discharge from the military!! As an officer, there is only an honorable or other than honorable, and the news is just out...according to what I was just told...more fodder for the fire against teh liberal spineless faithless tweaker...oh, did I mention I am sick of hearing the name Kerry?

Re: Im sorry, but I just dont get it!

An important design feature of our political system is that it tends to avoid extremes. We could do worse than having a democratic white house to offset a republican congress. I knew several otherwise reasonable, rational people who were literally in tears when Clinton won, yet my personal economy was never better than in the Clinton years. I'm not naive enough to give him credit for it, but "it is what it is."

I'll vote for the president (not that it matters - living in Texas kind of makes me feel a bit disenfranchised), but if Kerry wins I'm not going to fret.

p.s. I always wanted to use the word "disenfranchised" in a sentence and now I have. :)

Re: Im sorry, but I just dont get it!

I see everyone making an issue out of taxes in this election. I will admit it was nice getting a refund check I could actually use.
Everyone calls for higher taxes on the rich. Well, either way we will pay the defference. Do you really think that Sam Walton will see a huge tax hike and say Oh My, less money in my pocket? No, he will either eliminate jobs in his company or raise the prices in the Wal Mart to make up for it. Either way we little people suffer in the end.
It just makes sense, if I own a for example retail business, my usual income is 250,000 a year. The government taxes me higher, and I lose 25,000 to taxes. Do you think I am going to lower my standard of living? I am going to find a way to squeeze more out of my business, either cutting costs or raising prices.
Tax cuts for the poor directly effect us with more in our pockets. But in the long term it all effects all of us.
Any candidate that says they will not raise taxes is a liar. Simple inflation says this. When we live with a government that gave a $500,000 grant to someone to find out why prisoners want to escape from prison.

Re: Im sorry, but I just dont get it!

Deputy, you are very astute!!! I am sure also that many of our fellow 'mericans ahve learned that when a pay raise comes around for a major corporation, prices seem to creep up int eh retail market. Also that when inflation of any kind hits the retail industry, the shelp prices offset it. It is the everyday middle to lower class worker who gets pinched on the @#$$ for these things!!! No way can we just dictate that our pay go up because the real estate taxes were just raised, or whatever!!!

Re: Im sorry, but I just dont get it!

In my professional opinion, corporate income taxes are a real drain on the economy. Corporations must provide an adequate "return on investment" to their owners; our entire "free-market" economy hinges on this principle. And, the income is taxed anyway when distributed to shareholders as "dividends." Corporate earnings are by necessity plowed back in to the economy, in the form of increased employment opportunities, higher wages, increased spending for goods & services, equipment purchases, and obscene bonuses for executives :) .

Owners of closely held businesses & sole proprietors have the heaviest tax burden (and compliance burden) of any other individuals in the country - deputydawg you have my sympathy if you fall into this category.

J... Don't know how old you are, but my finances were never worse than they were under Jimmy Carter. JK is somewhat of a copy of Carter in his philosophies and would surround himself with likeminded individuals. And that scares the you know what outta me.

Compared to JK, Clinton looks like a right wing extremist in some areas.

My current amazement is that UBL himself is threatening us from his cave and, though on the run, with minimized resources, still scares the bejibbers out of the Kerry voters. This is a vote for appeasement and from fear pure and simple whether they know it or not. IMHO. HE's gasping for breath people, don't give him a second chance.
