I've been lurking about 3 months. Thanks to the good information on this site I've learned a lot about a '76 Johnson 25HP I bought at the beginning of the summer. You've inspired me to buy a 1956 Johnson 15HP this month for a spare but mostly because I appreciate the old iron, er aluminum. I call her "junior". My daughter says it's a girl because of the Holiday Bronze color. I hope I got a good deal.

Next up, get "senior" running - a 1956 Johnson 30 HP that was bought new by my grandparents. I've got a lot of automotive experience, but don't have any outboard experience. I used this motor as a kid, but it quit running about 10 years ago and has been sitting since. I'm going to need you help.

Check the top secret files at the begining of this forum and look for "engine has been sitting for awhile"

I'm a fan of the "old iron" too. Good reliable old motors and simple to work on, plus parts are reasonably priced.

Welcome aboard zeke. Here are some great links to familiarize yourself with your new toys. You can get most routine parts like carb kits, tuen up kits, etc... right here at iboats for about $20 each. Holler when you get stuck.
