I'm looking at buying a used CraigCat, Is there anything specific I should look for?

The title pretty much says it all. It's not selling for very much (no engine) but was just wondering if there's any weak points to look for... thanks...

Sorry partner. The only reason I've even heard of them is because someone was trying to sell one around here on CL. Looked like a neat little rig, but he was asking a fortune for it. I forget how much exactly, but it was a lot. If the price is cheap I say go for it. Bet you'd have a blast with it.

It is cheap. $200 without engine or trailer. But as I fix old engines as a hobby that wont be a problem. I do plan to snap it up as long as I can find a trailer to move it. Was just curious if anyone knew anything about em. They make em in Florida so I guess they haven't spread too far from Fla.

A friend of mine has one, not really a whole lot to them. You can try to check the floats for cracks. They are foam filled so you could have the water logged foam issue, wouldn't think it likely though. Can't speak to any specific issues to look at, but it's pretty much all right out there for you to look over, not like you have to check the transom for rot.

People actually like em quite a bit so you could probably make money on it.

Well I got it today and a small trailer to pull it. Hope it makes it 2,000 miles back to Canada! The foam is supposed to be non saturating... In theory! There were no apparent cracks but that dioesn't mean there aren't any... The transom is all aluminum so no issues there... If I could buy more of em I would as think I could make $$$ on them up north also! Will see how this one goes int he summer. And will post a pic as soon as I get em out of my camera.

Here's the pic from a few hours ago. The seats fold up obviousley anf the stick steering is seized but it looks like it comes apart easily. I just hope I dont need a new cable... Dang salt water! Slapped it all on an old jet ski trailer and away I go!
