Read this news paragraph and tell me why the news media does not refer to Moussaoui as African French. I can't quite grasp it.

"The sentencing trial of Moussaoui, a 37-year-old Frenchman , resumes Thursday morning after the jury in the first phase unanimously found him eligible for the death penalty on counts of conspiracy to commit international terrorism, to commit air piracy and to use weapons of mass destruction. This second phase will examine aggravating and mitigating evidence about his crimes, and the jury will decide whether he will be executed or imprisoned for life for his role in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks"

Re: I'm curious!

You mean as in African American?I guess because the journalist felt that France doesn't use the same political correct descrition for breaking down someones ehthnic origin, and he didn't either.Just a guess.Or maybe the editorial was leaned toward linking France and terrorism.

Boomer,

It is simple. The media believe the French are enlightened and do not need to be taught or burdened with such silly things. Only us heathens need to be reminded of our heritage lest we forget or discriminate which is what would happen if we were simply left to our own intelect. Sounds good anyway :D

I'm not sure where he came from originally....
Would 'Black Frenchman" work better?...
Not sure how race plays a factor here....
Now if it said, "Black Frenchman Homeland Security Deputy Press Secretary is a pervert, that would make sense.....
Just my observation ;) ....
If his job doesn't matter, neither should his race.......JK

Haut, he was originally from Morraco (Africa) before immigrating to France. That definitely makes him an African Frenchman. You, of all people, should know that the prefix of Black would Balkanize nothing. ;)
