I have a 1983 mercury blackmax 150, took it to the mech to get the carbs rebuilt almost 300 dollars, put it in the water the results were the same idles fine give it throttle it bogs down, called the mech he said bring it back. I took it back 200 miles round trip. He rechecked spark all elec. were good so he decided I was over proped had a 23 pitch stainless, went and got a 19 pitch alum. Put it on went to the lake same thing give it throttle and it would bog, kept messing with the throttle and trim it finnally took off and ran great, killed it fished awile started it and the same thing all it would do is bog and I could smell gas really strong, came home pulled the high speed jets and a couple of them hadnt been touched even though I paid him for carb work. I called him and told him I thought it was the carbs, he said no it was the stator he would guarentee that was the problem, ha said bring it back to him and he would fix it for 130 plus the stator. I ordered a stator here from iboats put it on went to the lake, guess what same thing bogged down. Kept messing with the throttle and it would finnally take off and run great untill you slow down then it idled really bad and would die, and it smells like its flooding really strong gas smell. All the electronics are new good compression. I took the front off the carbs and ran it on the muffs and gas was pooling in yhe top and middle carbs, Called the mech back this morning and now he says its the timing that he didnt do a link and sink when he redid the carbs. Any help would be a blessing, thanks
