I have a Merc 120 i/o ('75 tahiti)

Had some issues with my Switch and want to replace it. I pulled it out and it is a 4 lug switch. The only 4 lug swtichs I find in the Mega Mall are 4 lug 4 postion. This switch only feels like it has 3 postions.

Off / Ign / Start and then spring return tp ing.
I feel a slight click before or gets to the ign part.

Would this switch work
http://www.iboats.com/mall/index.cg...tarter&**********=393583483&*******=222073878

Re: Ignition Switch

Switch positions and number of lugs are not related. On an I/O you will need +12V, Ignition, and Start lugs as a minimum. There may be an Accessory lug and accessory position. It all depends on the wiring for your engine and the boat. You need schematics to determine what's connected to the switch and therefore what type of switch is needed. There should be a manufacturer name and number on it.

Re: Ignition Switch

Switches for I/O's are pretty universal but they look very much switches for outboards. The main difference is that for an outboard, the OFF position closes the ignition circuit. For an I/O, this function opens the ignition circuit just as it does for your car. The number of positions is unimportant. The four position switch probably has ACC, OFF, RUN, START and will work on your engine. The ACC position merely provides 12V to the accessories when anchored.

Re: Ignition Switch

The Mercruiser switches do have 4 lugs and only 3 positions. This picture should help.
