Ignition Switch Problem

So while I was changing the steering cable on our 88 party hut, the ignition switch fell apart on the ground. Ive done my best to put it back together, but I am not able to get it to turn to the correct positions of On, Run, and Start. Now I am getting nothing when I put it back together and try and turn the key. Its like the internals are not quite right and Ive tried everything.

It is a Pollak ignition switch.

Anyone know how to put these back together?

Gee, most outboard motors can be hotwired with a clip lead from purple to red to run accessories, and another clip lead from red to yellow/red to crank starter. Choke to stop motor.

I would spend the $20 on a new switch
