1992 aries. original factory ignition switch key broke, got a exact duplicate. wired it up from the pictures i took, no power to the switch at all, can not find any fuses along the wiring i can see . it goes into a 97 johnson venom. looking at switch from back top left magneto, center choke top right ignition middle right solenoid, bottom has 3 ground wires M, bottom left trim not power. that is the way it was hooked up. i know the battery goes to where the trim wire is. so i ran another hot and hooked it up b post and left the trim hooked to it. everything works now except some accessories like temp/ battery gauge, dash items work without switch when master switch is on it never stopped working. my question is was the trim sending power to the switch and not now ? is the trim in the correct location ? i would think so since you need it to raise the motor with switch off. tried old switch again, did not work, possible i might have stretched or broke a wire, motor will start and turn off. just want to make sure iv got it wired correct, i can change wiring on temp/battery gauge if i do have it wired correct

There is no "standard" when it comes to ignition switches.

Unless you replaced the switch with the exact same make and model there is no guarantee the point to point wiring is the same. You need to get a schematic for the motor and match the wires up to the proper contacts on the switch

it is close to exact as possible, the pens and letter marking on back are the same. i have the diagram on the switch, i guess i need to get the motor schematics if possible. thank you dingbat.

Your comments would imply your trying to connect a 1997 with a pre-1996 switch
Here is where the additional wires get connected
