I had a problem last week with mu switch, first it got touchy and wouldnt only start in a certain "spot" then I went to shut it down and it woulndt  ...

So then I figured out if I held the key all the way to the shut off side it would die after a few seconds... Great.... No! Let go of the key and it started back up on it own (even with key out)

So the rest of the day I had to hold it at shut down then **** into gear to keep it from starting...

So I know I need a new Switch but the question is does it need to be the "Push to Choke" type.. I dont push my current one in.. dont know if it does or not ... and just buy the one with the same # of terminals right ?

it's a 74 Merc 120

Thanks

Re: Ignition Question

Geez thats kinda personal! LOL!

I dont I guess! I just pump the throttle a few times and turn the key! Vrooom

Should I be pushing the key in? Are they all that way... I thought maybe it was a auto type choke or thermo ???

My other motor was a old Merc outboard with a choke on it
