Ignition problems..

Hello all, I have a 1978 Johnson 115 and have issues with the left side spark. I have spark at first start but then lose it. Am I looking at a coil issue? Both cylinders on that side fail together. No spark after start up, I check the wires coming from the big blue coil and they are not even similar to the other side. Hoping for more good advice from you guys before just buying stuff....... Thanks in advance:)

Re: Ignition problems..

You could try swapping the coils from side to side and see if the problem moves to the other side. I would go to the CDI website and look up your engine, use their troubleshooting guide to help you check out your ignition system.

Re: Ignition problems..

Hey again, I want to replace my plug wires. Should they have some sort of brass end at the coil side? Mine don't appear to have any unless they are stuck in the coil. Looked online for new wires and the all seem to have that end..... Thanks in advance:)
