I have developed some ignition problems. The top 2 cyl do not fire. Spark test is neg. Bottom 2 cyl fire, but one is weak. I have run OHMS diagnostics on the 4 coils and show .o1 and less on all. Trigger tests run in the 8. range. Manual says 7 - 10. Stator tests: Blue to Blue/white= 11.9 Manual says 5.7 - 8. Red to Red/white= 148.4 Manual says 56 - 76. Readings taken with Fluke 23 set for automatic reading. Obviously, to me, the stator needs to be replaced. However, after reading some of the posts, I may have a switch box problem. My manual does not give specs for a switch box test. One of the posts said that they switched the coils, which I also did and still had spark to the bottom 2 cyls., but it was suggested that it wasn't the stator, but the switch box. So, before I spend the $300 for the stator, I seek advice. Thanks in advance.

jg

You should get DVA adapter for your Fluke to read peak voltage. www.esitest.com . With the adapter you can check output voltage from stator, switch box and timing sensor at cranking rpms or engine running. Did you check magnets under flywheel.

Thanks for the idea with the Fluke. All magnets on the flywheel are intact and have good pull.

Forgot to tell you, I think the meter has to read at least 400 dc before the adapter will work.
