Ignition key on Yamaha 90hp 2 stroke

90hp Yam 2 stroke 2001

To start the boat I need to turn the ignition key 3/4 turn clockwise to the right, then it starts. Same thing shutting off the motor, except opposite way.

The Key / ignition seems to have "lossened up" or stripped a bit. I have to turn it quite a ways.
Previous to this weekend, a slight right turn and it engaged

Anyone heard of this, any ideas??

Maybe ignition switch has become loose in it's mounting? Can you tighten that hex nut that holds it in place?

Thank you; I gently tightened it, and it is good to go!
