I am going to replace my ignition sensor as it is corroded and the only part I haven't replaced for my tune up. The new sensor has three wires coming off the back of it, merc part no 87-892150Q02. My old one had the wires connecting to the nuts on the back of the sensor with three wires connected to the nuts. Two on one side and one on the other. The ground from the module was connected to the bolt that went through the dizzy on the underside. Am I correct in wiring as follows. Or does someone have a wiring diagram for the new sensor?
Green/White to Green White, Red/White to Red White by splicing. Or should the new wires run directly to their prospective terminals.
Keep Ground from module attached to the bolt that goes through dizzy.
Where should I attach the ground that comes off the the new part?
Also as I mentioned the old part had an additional wire that was connected to one of the terminals with either the grn/whte or red/whte (I have them labeled together just not in the boat right now). What is the additional wire and how do I wire it with the new sensor.
Any help is appreciated.
