Ignition coils test

Have a 1975 25HP Johnson mod 25EL75B.
How do I check the coils?
I have put the ohm meter black in the spark boot and the red to the clip which has a blue with white tracer wire.One coil reads ohms and one doesnt.
Should I have a certain ohm reading? and should I get a reading off the coils ground?
Am I testing correctly??
