I have Honda 225's.My starboard engine has developed a problem I cannot figure out.Any time the battery switch is on the starter engages and attempts to start motor. If I pull the wire off of starter solinoide the problem stops.I have replaced key switch and kill switch but problem remains.

Please help if possible, Thanks

Re: ignition always engaged

Are you removeing the small wire that powers the solieond OR the big battery wire ?

Is there 12 volts comeing out of the small wire you remove ?

If so then you need to follow it back to the key switch to see why its getting 12 volts when the key is not in the cranking position( bad key switch ?)

A honda manual would help as i have no idea how they run the wire OR any netural saftey switchs ect that may be in the cranking circut

Re: ignition always engaged

You might try the control cable from the defective motor on the good motor
if it cranks too then you know its in the cable/controls and not something under the hood.

Re: ignition always engaged

Thanks for the reply.I pull the small wire.It has voltage at all times.I thought it had to be a short in the ignition swith. So I installed new switch, same problem.I guess the logical answer would be shorted wires in wiring harness. I don't know how to find out for sure without pulling harness out of boat.(doesn't look like much fun).I was hoping for an easier solution.
