This is probably old hat for most of you, but I recently bought a 1972 Chrysler 55 HP. It appears to be in good shape overall. The problem is it only came with one of the two coils on it and that one is cracked. I checked my local dealer and he said the coils are no longer available. I've done some looking online, but no success. I'm told a regular 12V automotive/motorcycle coil will work and even hooked one up. It does throw a healthy spark. Any ideas??? Please???

I checked some of the references you guys gave me. Funny thing is, a 1973 year model is not listed. Do I have the wrong year???

You may want to try Seiler Marine in florida. I believe the website is www.seilermarine.com. I recently bought parts for my 1971 Chrysler 70 hp.

The Dude

Model# 559HF with SER# above 4001 is a 1973 model with alternator and C.D. ignition. (No doubt). Degloa, most of the on-line sites that I've seen do not post a complete model# list. This is not to say they do not have the parts you need, it just makes things a little harder to figure out. You need Chrysler Part# 345475-1 ignition coil.

I got a 45 hp with those duel coils. You can find em, but they are about $90 apeice. I went to auto zone and got a couple of automotive coils and ceramic resisters for less than 20 bucks. The engine now starts and runs, but I still need to work on the fuel problems.
