ign question

Testing a ign system on a 7.5 merc,ser #A105665. I have 240 vdc on 1 coil and 90 vdc on the other, Triger,stator and coils test good. The eng will not fire on the #2 coil am i right to think that the switchbox is at fault :confused: any thoughs :cool:

What is the output prior to the coil?<br /><br />The powerpack"switchbox" sends the signal to the coil<---what is that voltage?<br /><br />TMD

out of the switchbox are two pair/wire. one set green/green with white. one set blue/ with blue white.both go to each coil. one the blue set i have 240vdc. on the green pair i have 90vdc.

Last test to make sure it's the switch box.. Diconnect the wrires going to the coil while testing them. If you still get those same voltages, then it is a switchbox prob. You need to be getting around 200 volts to each coil..<br /><br />Most people don't have a peak reading adapter.. I'm glad you do, as it's essential for testing these ignition systems..<br /><br />Scott..
