Maybe time for the Forum Ops. to recognize they got sold a pig-in-a-poke with this "upgrade." I participate in other sites that have upgraded software/servers - nowhere near the problems I've noticed here.

F.U.B.A.R.! Freaked Up Beyond All Recognition! That's what it is! Constant error messages,(all different kinds?) drop outs, online/offline no warnings when? Iffy messages when posting a reply, not being able to pull up a posted question to answer? Then not knowing if your response was posted, or not after getting a tiny "working" window that never goes away, or confirms your reply was posted? Now we have lost 5 days of postings!? This is unexcuseable !

How can you let this happen? And how much more are we going to lose till the upgrade is finally complete!? Who, & why, decided to take a smoothly working, perfectly designed forum, and change it for the worst?

Just wait for the site hijacking to begin, it has already begun for me,,, Click on iboats sometimes, and get hijacked to a spam site! This is all common procedure with an untrustworthy servor!

As far as being hijacked, normally that means you have a google redirect malware bug on your computer, I have done several security scans with the software I run on my servers on the new iboats forums and not catching anything. Now I am starting to see the same complaints over and over again, I am sure they are well aware of every single error that is occurring, they have logs that point out where errors are happening and what is causing it, it is easy to know you have a problem, but with so many types of servers these days, it is difficult to figure out what needs to be changed to make it work right, I am working on the same situation on one of my brand new servers, set everything up by the book and still have things I have to customize to make it work correctly, when you are dealing with 1/2 million members and well over a million messages, it is not easy. As far as upgrading, often times it is required to protect the membership from the hackers, who are always working on how to crack databases and break into websites.

It just takes time guys when dealing with stuff this large and complicated, I don't get frustrated, I simply have patience and know it will get fixed and working 100% again.

I don't use google? And this is 2 weeks of frustration now! I've never seen an upgrade take so painstakingly long!

The redirect stuff is not from the upgrade. And yes, so far, the upgrade has been anything but. With that noted they have worked really hard to try and solve this only to find it was in the software itself. Let's try and stay positive ;)

MikDee, you don't have to use google to get the google redirect bug, it has nothing to do with google, i has to do with redirect bugs, it is just called the google redirect, but again, you don't have to use google to get the bug. When I was in charge of a security center when I was in the Military, I saw upgrades take a long time, trying to get everything configured correctly.

Staying positive down here for now ! The whole pm/notification stuff has just got me baffled ! Don't understand why I need to know every time someone else post to a thread I am subscribed to . Can't the message system be just for PM's ?
Still staying positive !

As far as getting PM notification, you need to go into your profile and change your notifications settings, then you will not get notification every time a thread it posted to:

Profile >Account > Privacy >Notifications

Once there you will be presented a list that you can check or un-check each item you want to get or not get.

So iBoats is the only site using the new version of vBulletin?

I think we all know the answer to that question. For some reason vBulletin and iboats aren't seeing eye to eye. I'm not a programmer, so I don't know the reason why....... All these issues will eventually get worked out. We just need to continue to be patient.....

Who's software is it? Are we talking about vbulletin?

Yes, we are talking about vBulletin. In trying to fix the things we all wanted fixed, an error in the software was found. This error needs fixed by vBulletin iboats has no control of the speed of vBulletin's programmers. They work at their own pace. So please continue your patience. Thanks.
