Vic:
It will take a little longer to load posts and replies if the forum continues to be slow.

Please try to be patient and KNOW that there is a team of people working extremely hard to resolve the problem created by the software designers, NOT iboats.

If you are feeling frustrated, and wish to post a rant, take a break from your computer. Consider going outside, or calling someone that's important to you and letting them know you're thinking of them.

If you're frustrated, just imagine how horribly frustrated those tasked w/ dealing w/ the problems are.

Thank you for your continued support as the forums become busier and busier as boating season starts.

Your iboats admin and mod team.

The comments above are not Vic's original comments, it's my edit to his original text. Thank you, John

You do realize, there is a hell of a lot more that goes into system speed than just the company that owns it, right?
Thanks for helping out MTBoatGuy, we appreciate your support!
John

Today, has been quite good at my location for accessing IBoats, very reasonable load times as well as edits, responding to messages, I have really seen no problems today, so I would suspect you are experiencing some issues with your ISP.
I've had a few lags and some lightening fast posts today. Perhaps the lags are traffic driven, but it's equally likely the lags were my ISP or cell carrier as well. Thanks again for your support.
John

I've heard some folks mention load speeds and I've been trying to pay closer attention to them lately. So far - aside from maintenance times on the weekend, and during more high traffic times - I'm getting excellent load speeds with multiple windows open on three different browsers (Safari, Chrome and Firefox).

I've got a couple of questions into the brains that make the wheels go round, but I think things have been working as well as you could ask of an enterprise this big.

At least know people are paying attention to it.

jbcurt,

I have no problem helping out, and was just trying to illustrate that with what I do now, I can make quite a few websites a lot slower, there are just to many variables that come into the network situations. Most of the slow situations I see these days, actually have to do with ISP services, local switches go bad, certain ISP are throttling networks right now. There is just many many things to blame a website these days.

seems to be slow just sometimes.. like today 4/5/15 all day load speeds have been very slow. I am not complaining at all. I love this forum. I hope the techs figure it out though. Good luck and thanks guys/gals.

Yes,
The tech team has been notified. Actually they've known for a while, we do try to keep them well informed.

If it is scheduled maintenance , it needs to be scheduled during the least busy time of the day, I do my server maintenance at 2:30 am, that disrupts the least amount of users on my servers. That is when I don't my upgrades as well as hardware checks, network connectivity and a host of other little things that can kill load times. I know it gets frustrating, but things do happen, I had a NIC card go out the other night at 4:40 AM and it took me a while to take things down, install a new card and get everything back up and running, those are things you don't plan for. Fortunately, my servers have redundant systems, so if one goes down, it transfers to my other server as well as still being able to communicate, slowly but it still communicates with the internet. But I will say, the last couple of weeks, I have noticed lag times have increased, in other words when you click on a topic, it will half load, go into connecting and then load the topic or thread. This has been going on for a couple of weeks now. Also, often times I will click to post a message and I get a yellow box at the top that says "Working" and a busy cursor, this can last up to a minute, but often times it never loads and I have to open a new browser window up and go back into the topic area to see if the message actually posted. Tonight I was posting a response and the window never did load, so I opened another browser up, double checked to see if the response had posted and found out it had posted three times.

What I suspect is perhaps the server does not have enough memory to execute all of us posting at the same time, so it is taking the database to long to update, or there is a problem with the database that needs to be corrected.

There has been a dialogue most of the evening.

We are all suffering thru the problems. And there are guys working on it, on Easter.

Glad to hear it, unfortunately when you work in IT, you work Holidays, I spent several hours this morning re-building a database for one of our customers, took me until about 8 this morning to get him back up and running, and then spent the majority of the day sleeping. Last new years I spent 13 hours in the data center replacing a complete server. One of the great things about the modern world, those who keep us connected are often times the least connected to at least our families on holidays.

Keep up the good work guys.

Well I for one certainly appreciate all the folks behind the scenes that do keep everything up and running. And for those complaining, it isn't like you are paying for this forum. So what is your problem? Keep up the good quality work. I enjoy this forum and the FREE information it provides to all... :thumb: :thumb:

That's being looked at too, but I don't know if the compu-dudes have found anything just yet. That's kind of a weird one.

Joe, all of the modern browsers have spell check capability built into them.

yeah trust me I use them to death - but sometimes doesn't work here especially when i'm quoting someone. When right click it gives me put/copy/paste option like i'm editing a pic. I'll try make it happen and get a screen shot

I've been able to recreate the effect consistently. And it's being looked at.

Depending on your OS - and I'm losing familiarity with how it looks on a Windows box - your spellcheck should ALWAYS be active. On my Mac, it puts a red line under something the OS thinks is wrong or it autocorrects and underlines it in blue.

That said, if you're typing a post you didn't quote someone in and you right click, you'll get a full drop down menu with spell check options. If you're typing a post and you DID quote someone you get the little drop down like Joe posted: CUT, COPY, PASTE, ADD TABLE.

Your browser's spell check should still be active as MT said. But I don't know how it works on a Windows machine without the right click dropdown.
