If I replacePowerPack will it go faster

I got a 60 hp Evinrude I just got running good after fixing some shorts in the old wires and some other stuff. But it seems that it could go faster or should go faster I think. I know I could check the timing and also the compression. But I Question is " The wires that come from the flywheel to a module (I found out it called a power pack)and from there to the coils. Well if I replace that Power Pack module with a brand new one will that give more power". It's a 1980 engine and the power pack has never been replaced I think.
Then again the engine is running good and I could leave alone would be fine. But would like to know what you all think.

Ahoy, Madecool.

It doesn't sound broke to me, so I would leave it alone. Powerpacks either work or they don't. Once they work they do not affect the power.

Good luck. :)

Red sky at night. . .
Thanks JB

Yea that what someone told me but it good to get a second answer.

Well the wires are good on it up higher to the power-pack but i notice there was a plastic hose lower wires that came out of the powerpack so I took out and notice moisture there the wires insulation is not as good as new wires peels off to easy. Most mechanic will just replace it because it was some bad wires coming out of it. But i seperated these wires no misture on them and it runs good. I also had soder a connecton to togeater but other that that the power pack is ok

Since people told me that I fixed the wires so they were right etc.. connections and no miosture .

madecool
