I removed the P/S pump on the port engine since its not used and would like to find an idler pully, bracket, and belt to install in it's place. The belt routing diagram shows a routing configureation with, and w/out P/S. I was looking on Doug Russell (2001 & up) and the alternator bracket looks different from the one on my new 5.7 Ser # 4012192457. Any idea for the correct part #'s.

I don't think they even make that setup for non-PS models. Usually all you see is the power steering hoses hooked together at the back of the engine if the PS isn't used. But the pump is left on the engine.

My thought was, maybe the inboard engine that comes w/out P/S used the same alternator mounting bracket. If it did use the same alternator bracket it my have the idler bracket and pully I'm looking for.

Re: Idler Pully

I picked up a groved idler pully and a 12mm bolt from the parts house and started thru my junk boxes. With a little luck I found the right bushing for the pully bearing (came out of a GM tensioner pully) and with a little ingenuity came up with a good spacer (about a 1/2 inch). The new style alternator bracket has a boss that the front P/S bracket mounts to, so I used that boss to mount the pully on. Had to tap it from a 10mm to a 12mm bolt hole. I'll pick up a belt tomorrow. :p
