I took my 2402E out crappie fishing saturday and used it to troll around with some jigs. The motor ran well for not having been run for a few years, and it is new to me so I dont know the history on it. At low speeds however it would run for 5-15 minuted then cut off. If it cut off on its own it would have to sit for a minute, then pull the choke out even while the motor is still hot. When I would manually shut the motor off it would start up first time, every time with a hot motor and no choke adjustments. Am I running too slow, or is it loading up in the carb? If I turned the low speed mixture either way it would die. The throttle lever was on the left side of the start closer to the stop mark, but it would run well for a long time then just stop.
At high speed it ran very well exept for a few times it would miss or somthing. It felt like I dit a stump or something made the motor jump. I was in deep, open water so I know it was a skip or whatever.
The crappie and white bass where biting.

Yeh you need to rebuild the carbs,
the float bowl is draining at idle, when it runs out of fuel it quits.
I would also change all the fuel lines, alcohol compliant now.
Get the factory manual.
Water pump is probably due.
And if you get ambitious do all the elecs, coils, spark plugs/wires points etc.
