Just out of curiosity, what is the ideal RPM at idle in neutral. Mine is at about 900, is that a bit high? 1989 Force 150

Re: Idle RPM?

Thats about right, maybe you can go down a bit.
More important is how it idles when in gear.
600-700 in gear is good.

Re: Idle RPM?

Remember: If you change the prop to a different pitch, the load in gear will also change and the idle speed will most probably need to be adjusted. I have a 125 with a 19 pitch prop. In order to get 700 RPM in forward, the neutral RPM is up around 1,000. With a 17 pitch prop, neutral RPM is about 900.
