Idle Fuel Flow in 1989 70?

I have a 1989 70 triple, early in the year when the carbs had the fixed idle air bleed. Can someone explain to me the fuel flow at idle? In other words, where is / are the passage(s) that bring fuel in at idle? I know the air comes in through the air bleed, and I can't see that getting plugged up.

I am not idling at all well, and I am guessing it's a fuel flow problem. Unfortunately I won't get a chance to get rebuild the carbs for a few weeks, and I am wondering if there is anything I can do as a field repair to clean out whatever passages are plugged. Thanks for any help or advice!

you have a late production carb, you can see diagram here, follow prompts

you can easily remove the low speed jets, and clean them, and spray out the low speed area with carb cleaner, special screw driver required. your air needle start at 5 to 6 turns out, and adjust just one at a time, 1/8 or a turn then wait 15 seconds. do not go from one to another. get it to idle the best it will, then go to the next carb. repeat, then come back to the top carb and do it again.

Thanks. I actually have the early production carbs, no adjustable low speed jets. I guess I can still remove the idle air bleed and spray carb cleaner in there, can't hurt. I do have the special screwdriver.

in the back of the low speed chamber (under the welch plug) are 3 small holes (venturi) that get clogged, you can access the by taking the carbs off, and from the engine side open the butterfly, they are in the top, i use a small bent paper clip, and make sure they are clean, the wash out with spray carb cleaner, the reinstall jet and carb.

Thanks - that's exactly the advice I was looking for! Think there's any way I can get in from the front, without taking the carbs off? With the appropriate paper clip, of course:).

I do have a set of the late production carbs at home (was going cheap on eBay and I couldn't pass them up) so I can check it out. On a related subject, when I get the boat back to my shop to rebuild the carbs, would you recommend going with the late production ones? I can see that the adjustable low speed jets would be good at times like this.
