Year 2000 50 hp Johnson, 2 cyl., just had the motor put on my boat. Mechanic did link/sync with boat out of water on the muffs. Now with boat in water, idle in neutral and just in gear seems too low and boat stalls (don't have tach on yet) Runs great otherwise Is it possible to adjust the idle screw without havng to repeat link and sync again?

Re: idle adjustment

Turn the idle screw clockwise in small increments until the motor will keep running, The adjusting should be checked with engine warm and in forward gear (on trailer or tied to dock). You should be ok at 700 to 750 RPM in gear. (Don't try to make the adjustments while running).

You can't set idle on muffs and every mechanic knows that.
