ID'ing an engine

I bought a boat, shrink wrapped it and stored it after test driving it. I failed to get the engine ID before doing it but I was told it had a 5.7 MEFI. I attached one of the pictures I took of it before storing. My nephew had seen the photos and told me that the block looked small in comparison to the risers and it may be a 4.3 vortec. Any way to tell with the picture? I had thought the 5.7 and 4.3 blocks were relatively the same size but I am not much of an engine nut.

The picture is of a V8, not a V6, so it's a 350, not a 4.3l....
