Is there an easy way to tell which is cylinder #1 and coil #1? New to outboards, and have replaced the coils and wires.

After a little research on this site someone asked if the OP was certain his wires weren't reversed. Guess i never even thought about it, but I just hooked the shorter wire up to the top cylinder and the longer wire to the bottom cylinder as it was before. Is there an identifier on the stator plate for the coils?

Thanks

Top cylinder is #1 cylinder
Coil at front, closest to carburetor is #1, top cylinder coil.
Inside plug wire at entrance to armature plate is #1, top s/plug wire.

For future reference, put a piece of tape or a zip-tie around the TOP plug wire as an identifier.
