Hi everyone. I'm doing some work to my Honda 90 and despite owning it from new, I can't confidently identify the exact model.
The serial number on the engine is:BBBE-1017934
The number on the ID plate says BBBL - 2002147

On all the parts sites, I cant find listings correlating to what I have always understood to be a 1999 90hp.
Help.

The short story is a 90 is a 90. You should have no trouble getting the right part for it.

It's a 1997 model year.

For 1997, starting numbers are:
engine: BBBE-1000001 and up
frame ; BBBL-2000001 and up

There is NO model listing for a 1999 90 HP Honda

Well, I'm clearly not as eduamacated as most here, but I would have thought that the parts changed when they went from Mercury legs to their own and from carbs to fuel injection.

Thanks for that info. I was a little concerned as to how the frame and engine serial numbers were so different. When you go to an on-line parts store, there is no distinction between frame and block numbers.
So what do you mean there is no listing for 1999 90HPs? They didn't make them that year? My ownership says 1999 on it.

Honda doesn't make much effort to identify what year their engines were built. My thought is they focused on production runs.

Honda's, nearly all of them, can be very difficult or impossible to determine exact year built. Thankfully, there's very few changes from one run to the next.

From a practical standpoint, that works fine for me. Nothing to be concerned about.

Clearly, those changes were made WAY after 99, no?
