I dont have a serial number yet as I have not picked up the boat. Can anyone identify this 115hp Mercury?

I am curious as to the DC Amp output of the stator or alternator not sure which this is equipped with yet.

Its on a 1988 Tracker Party Hut 28ft

Looks like an 86 / 88 model.----If still using the seperate tank /automatic oil mixer you should take it out of the boat and throw it away as far as you can.

Understood. I read that this motor might actually only be 90HP cause of the way they were rated? Is this true? What top speed should I see assuming I am propped right for a 28' tritoon?

That motor should have an unregulated stator/rectifier charging system of about 9A, at cruise. A 28 foot 'toon would need a pretty low pitch prop. Any guess I gave on the exact pitch would be a wild guess.

It is 115 HP , best not to listen to some folks about outboards and horsepower.

Re: identify this outboard

It is a 115 HP motor rated at the prop. Its ALMOST the same basic motor as the older crank rated 1500's with a little less compression. 9 Amp unregulated charging system. Pushing a 28 foot pontoon I wouldnt expect much more than 25 MPH if that. On a heavy pontoon boat a 15-17 pitch prop would be right at home. I'd opt for the 15.

Crap, trade that thoroughbred Merc in for a plough horse Johnny Fat-Fifty. You will get 25 MPH out of the Fatty, any you won't feel guilty.

Just a joke....

Ditto...also depends on how much beer & rum you've got onboard....keep it near the bow....my buddy has about the same setup, and it goes about 26 according to the GPS...doesn't take long to get set up at the sandbar...don't forget the chainsaw engine blender, got to have that.....

Re: identify this outboard

Anyone recommend steps on how to check the oil injection? I keep getting mixed reviews. Also maybe a link to how to disable it correctly?

Looks like someone already removed the oil injection. It has a 13p prop on it any one know if this will work correctly on a 28' pontoon?

I would try the 13P prop, and adjust from there. Each 2" of pitch up will reduce max RPM by about 400RPM.
