Identify engine serial

I am trying to figure out the exact serial of the engine in my boat. I believe it to be a 1995 OMC 5.0L FL Cobra. I have not been able to find the OMC serial number on the engine. I did find a Volvo Penta Prod No, Type, and Serial. When I look this information up, I can only find information on the block. Any information on serial number so I can start getting correct parts, etc. would be great!

Ayuh,..... Post some pictures at photobucket or somewhere, 'n link 'em here,....

I donno 'bout the numbers, but with pictures, maybe some of the guys can Id what ya got for ignition, 'n induction,.....

I think If you look at the front of the engine and just below the starboard cylinder head you will see a plate with numbers stamped in it. You can then take that and do a Goggle or whatever search and you will find the information in regards to your engine. However, that will not give you the OMC number. So just post that numbers and either I or someone can help. I just went thru the same issue with a 1986 4.3 OMC Cobra-- The great people here on Iboats helped me right along.
Being mine was a V-6 the numbers were on the rear near the distributor. Good luck!
