Identification help

Hi. I recently acquired an old crestliner alumni boat. I’d like to restore it but I’m not sure where to begin to find any info/parts on it. Google searches have provided little info except for pictures of similar looking boats. I went as far as trying to call the folks at Brunswick who are the parent company for crestliner. Unless you’re a dealer they won’t talk to you and after speaking with a couple dealers they claim to have a hard time getting a rep too. I believe it’s a 1955 Viking 14. It’s been painted which is no big deal but the HIN# is gone. If anyone can lead me to some info on where else there may be a stamped number and, preferably to information on the boat itself would be greatly appreciated.

Retrocrestliner has brochure pages, compare the images and details to yours.

1955 14ft Viking looks/spumds aboit right.

Never had a factory issued original HIN, might or might not have a Serial #, but I dont know where to tell you to check for a Ser#.

Depending on your state, title, registration and/or getting a state issued HIN could be a long difficult road.

Thanks. RetroCrestliner was pretty much how I determined the age. I’ve got a couple emails out so we’ll see what happens. I’m mainly interested in getting the appropriate windshield for it. I had stumbled across a company that makes them however you need to know exactly what you are looking for.

IMHO the boat looks better without the shield . Makes it easier doing any line handling on the fore deck. All hardware was outsourced and the boat itself , while old and having nice lines is one of 10s of thousands old aluminum hulls still plying the waters. Nothing special about it unless you have sentimental ties to it. A new custom shield will not increase the value , as a matter of fact you probably will be spending more on the shield than you will get back when you sell the boat.

Looks like my 1955 14'. Did you find the Hin# starboard side bow below gunnel near rear of bow cover.

Its too old to have a factory original HIN, might have a Serial # though

No I hadn’t checked there but I will. Thanks for the tip. It had been sitting in the yard until yesterday when I decided to see if it would fire up (was told it died and never started again 2yrs ago). It has a 70’s merc 402 40hp on it. Pulled carb to clean it put back on and it fired right up. Such a light boat I wonder if it’ll ever get on plane?
