Ideas for fastening boat seats

I have an older boat with the rear seat cushions that slide out and provide access to storage compartments next to the engine compartment. Last season, one of the boat seats flew out on the highway. Other than velcro, anyone have any suggestions for fastening the seats in so they won't fly out, but still provide easy access. Thanks in advance. Keith

My stern seats mount the same way between the I/O cover and the side but have never had a problem.
Velcro would be a good way but may wear out pretty soon.
I would try and tighten up the cusion so it tight by spreading the I/O cover some.

Also you could put a strap on the bottom with a stainless steel snap. You could snap it to the side or the engine cover or both.

I was also considering the strap idea. How would I spread the IO cover to make the fit tighter??

My jump seats have two straps each. One snaps to the side of the engine cover, the other to the side. This is how the mfg did it.

On mine, the cushion and the base are one. It sounds like yours have seperate cushions, but don't know why straps and snaps wouldn't hold them.

I guess yours choices are;

* friction fit (like my Sea Ray)
* strap with a snap
* velcro
* some sort of hasp

or put something heavy on the seat while you're on the highway :D

Thanks for these ideas, I was hoping to find an easy hasp, but can't find anything in a hardware store that would do the trick. So I think I'll go with the strap. I like the idea of putting something heavy on it :) I lost one seat on the NYState Thruway. Found the cushion on the return trip, a trooper had left it against a guard rail. Unfortunately, it had been run over about 78 times :(

take a strap screw it to the front bottom of the seat, then it comes out and snaps to the front of the base.

my rear seats are free to blow away too. my solution so far is to remove them and move them fwd. out of the wind while trailering....
