Tohatsu 8 hp 2 stroke, (id on housing -M8B / 3B2)<br />Removed lower gear case to replace rubber O-ring and a roller bearing 1/4" dia. & 1/4" long fell out and unable to determine where it came from?<br />A 1/4" dia. x 1 1/4" long roller bearing is in place in the inboard end of the shaft and there is no other location on/in the gear case where the smaller bearing will fit.

There are roller bearings inside the gearcase and one on the bottom of the crankshaft. If you pulled the lower unit off of the motorleg and a roller bearing fell out it would have to be from the crankshaft bearing...I've never heard of that happening.

OK,basedon a wear pattern on the two roller bearings it appears that the 1/4 " long by 1/4 inch dia bearing fits into the prop shaft followed by the 1/4 inch dia by 1 inch roller bearing, the outboard end of the 1 inch bearing fits into a bearing "receptacle". Assuming that all makes sense - - - -I am trying to reinstall the lower housing that contains the impeller and pump but the gearshift shaft is blocking the last 1 inch of travel to the point where the 4 bolts need to be fitted. tried every manouver possible but no go????

You just have to fit it up into the leg over and over until you get it in correctly.
