What is this old gal that's eating up all my time? I bought it about 5 years ago and it's been "Old Faithfull". Very well made aluminum hull. I've grown fond of it so now I'm making it strong & pretty again (seats, transom, repair & glass in the wood rails, yada yada). The rear seat mount seems too far forward for a typical rowboat or tiller fishing boat? There are signs of former cable steering. Did someone Frankenstein an old rowboat years ago, or was this hull intended for the remote controls & stick steer it's gonna get? It's 13'4" long and 5' wide. The metal braces from the top of the transom to the sides are not original (they'll be replaced with glassed ply triangles). There is no hull tag. The Wisconsin Registration Card calls it a 1960 but they call everything old a 1960 by default (I've got no less than 3 "1960" jon boats). The Wis Reg also has a "serial number" of 57931. Is that a valid old Starcraft number? Thanks guys!

I found it! It's a 1958 Starcraft Speed Queen hull. Someone converted it to a tiller fishing boat by pushing the rear seat back on its mount, pulling out the seat backs, and cutting out half the bow cover so they'd have more access to the front. Remnants of the original green bottom paint remain. Not for much longer, though.

I have had a 1960 starcraft speedqueen which I rebuilt several years back. Though the boat was not in total original condition when I got it, I would be glad to answer any questions you may have.

Wow, my husband and I just bought a 1957 Speed Queen! Hope you're having fun restoring yours. Ours is in excellent condition, but we want to restore it to mint, so any advice or lessons learned, we'd be very glad to hear!

Here's ours--we haven't got a good name for her yet, but isn't she pretty?
