 I'm not to sure if this is the right forum, but I just had to say something about this....
I just got off the phone with Iboats (Jason), I'm after one of the hustler props listed on this site...Well lo and behold, they will not sell me one, because they dont ship to canada? What the heck is that all about? Who in the United States wont ship to Canada?? He claimed that it was at the manufacturers request.....what manufacturer is going to turn down a sale because they dont want thier distributors shipping thier products to canada.....that is absolutely crazy....IBOATS, you run a great site here, but your customer service stinks!!

Thanks for letting me rant!

James Cody

its true.....and its not that the props arent sold here, but its cheaper for me to buy one off of our hosts, and pay the exchange and duty....go figure!!

James,

I can't speak for why the policy exists at iboats, but the paperwork and red tape involved is a collosal pain and probably costs more than the small profit.

Sloopy!

Are you seeking to become history just like Sailboaty? Just keep sticking nonsense and useless posts in here and you will be. :(

James, they won't ship to you because the hustler distributor in Canada doesn't like the competition. Try Ace Propellor on the net. They are based in Canada but compete with the US websites -- will ship no problem.

Yeah, but the exchange rates make the bachelor parties cheaper in Canada...just know that the booze is mostly water so stick with canned and bottled beverages.

As an avid e-bay person I can tell you that shipping outside the USA is just a plain old pain in the butt. I have done it myself but the risk normally outweighs the cost. Package tracking is a pain and returns are a nightmare.

It is unfortunate that you had the experience but as suzukidave said there are Canadian distributors. Now the strange part is that it is easier to ship to the USA from Canada then it is to ship to Canada from the US.

My last ranting ;) point is that the prop business has many customers who purchase the wrong item. I just imagine that frustrates the retailers a bit.

I agree it would be nice to have it all work equally in the postal and packaging systems.

Bob

I know for a fact that iboats doesn't have a problem shipping engines from Canada to the US so why can't they ship back ? Jason?

Re: Iboats wont sell me a prop?

Hi all

I bought some spares in USA, though I live in Denmark, but parts are hard to get and expensive here, espacially after the Evin/Johnson breakdown, a couple of the old stockholding dealers cloused down then. The company who sold to mee had lots of troubles with paperwork, a lost shipment etc. I had a great service, and I will use that dealer again for sure. But everyone who wants to buy in some other country must be prepared that not all dealers have time to do all the extra work, which I ( and every one else should ) understand. Remember they dont charge you extra for the inconvenience, its service !

Maybe someoneone trustworthy here could give you their US address and you could have iboats ship it to them? Then that person could ship it to you in Canada via post office? It would only be a little more in freight. I'm sure someone would be willing to make arrangements for you. There's a lot of good people here.

I'd help, but I'm in Alaska and the shipping charges wouldn't be worth it from here.

Or you could just order a prop from www.cabelas.com or something.

Robert, how did the hustler compare to your other prop....rpm wise. I've been told that the rake on the hustler is fairly aggressive, what are your thoughts? Whats your setup

Thanks

James

PS

I,m not trying tocut any company down, or start flame wars, I was just really surprised at this. I know its a pain in the but to ship "internationally", I just wrongly assumed that our free border, along with free trade, that canada, nor mexico, nor the us was really considred "international".....I guess I'm just naieve when it comes to this free trade stuff.
Thanks for all your replies, it has given me lots of options

Thanks for the offer Sloop, but with the links that have been supplied on this thread, I've actually found one a bit cheaper that ships to canada......well actually in all the other links they shipped to canada....but thanks anyways, I appreciate it.......besides, you probably would have wanted to wash it in your dishwasher or something ;)

Re: Iboats wont sell me a prop?

Major improvement. I have a 17ft Bowrider/Fish&Ski with a rude 90. Original prop was 14x19, which I was running well over the recommended rpm range for my motor(later found out this was a tach problem after I had prop repitched to a 21). I was running around 5000rpm's and 35 mph with no hole shot WOT after prop was repitched and tach issues resolved.

With the hustler 13.25 x 19, I have a great hole shot and increased by speed to around 41 mphs at 5200 rpms. Extremly please with the prop. I didn't want to spend the $$$ for a S.S.
