Does the Chief ever visit this site to see what the Indians are up to?

I ask this as he may not be aware of the shipping charges being asked for shipping purchases made thru iboats to International destinations.

I am in Australia.
All $$ values are in US$.

I went to purchase a Seloc Manual on Suzuki, which costs $29.71, which is fine, but the postage is $88.21 = $117.92

The cheapest i could find here in Aussie, was $63.37 incl postage, but they advertise world-wide postage for around $4.35

I mean....is your postage on a book really approx $50 more than ours??

I don't need the next part, but a Sierra 18-3292 Impeller Key for a Suzuki Outborad is $3.99 and the postage is $37.70 = Total of $41.69

I realise a 3rd party may be involved, but I would like to make the point that grossly over-charging on postage probably won't help sales a lot.

Please, I am not one to be critical....I just want to bring this point to someones attention...especially if they are seaking international sales.

I bought a set of bearing buddies in the US.....my friend put them in an envelope....the postage stamp said $12.....and it took 5 days door-to-door.

Here is the crunch, and the following dollars are Australian.
I bought a Suzuki DF50 Thermostat for $73, and an Impellar for $75 delivered to my door.......so if you know the US prices....then if the postage is realistic...then you have a pretty open market to sell in too....if you don't overcharge on postage.

Cheers
Phillip

Hi Phil,

Welcome back.... and welcome to Australia.... Shipping charges from any overseas country to OZ are always exorbitant.... They think being Australia it's so farrrr away.....

Cheers,

Chris............

Hi Phil,

Someday we will get it right. ;) At least we are trying. We are using an outside provider for international orders for both credit card clearing and shipping. We are searching for better-less expensive options right now. We hope to have something soon. Keep the faith. :)

This is one the the things that I really like about BV and the administration at iboats. When something is pointed out to them they don't just shrug it off, but are constantly trying to make things better and will take criticism to heart and if valid attempt to find a better way. Keep up the great work, guys, and good luck on finding a better, less expensive option.

Re: iboats.com shipping charges

keep in mind there are 100 ways to ship the same item. UPS, USPS, fedex etc. how fast its going to get there matters too. I shipped a small package to norway last summer. it only weighed 2-3 pounds and the cheapest I could ship it still cost me close to $40.

I do feel your pain trying to order stuff internationally though.

on the plus side I chose Iboats since shipping to my door was cheaper then getting in my truck and driving 2 towns over for the parts. $6 worth of gas doesnt get a guy very far these days

"Thanks Les

It's a good thing I'm not a cinical man, cause if I was I would be thinking that uboats.com central command was about to change it's policy on exporting."

I have ALOT of stuff to buy for the Grendel, looking through the Iboats store the prices are equal or better then the Canadian branches of West Marine, unfortunately most can't be shipped USPS priority Post. It has to come UPS,FEDex or such, which isn't too bad when iboats shows a shipping total, until the parcel arrives and the shipping co., has added a CUSTOM'S BROKERAGE FEE on top of the shipping costs!
We had to buy some parts for our above ground pool, this spring. The manf. is in Cal., I called ,talked to sales, they assured me, that they had a warehouse in eastern Canada that the parts would be sent from.OK. I ordered the parts ($36.37 including shipping), FEDEX sends the package through Canada Post, a week later I get a bill from them for $55.00 for Custom Brokerage:mad:
Next time I need any parts for this POS, i'll take a torch to it, and buy somewhere else:mad:

WHEwwww Glad I got that out, I feel way better now.:D:D

I recently purchased carb kits from the U.S., iboats was very competitive on the cost of parts but the shipping was almost double that of rivals. I would prefer to purchase from iboats.
