hey gents !

like stated in another topic i deal with a stalling issue on idle at my 2010 merc 5.0 MPI which seems to be common for a bad IAC valve. before i buy a new one i would like to hear your opinions if the symptoms really fir for the IAC or if i have another issue :

-if starts straight away cold or warm
-it stalls only at idle , when increasing rpm it keeps going
-it stalls when started cold after some minutes, after it warmed up a little and the engine starts to reduce rpm,s to 600 at idle
-after stall ( when warmed up )it restarts but stalls after few seconds again
-i removed the small filter/muffler from the throttle body idle air system ( i do not mean the flame arrestor !!) and hear a hissing sound , does that mean the iac valve opens /works ???
-the valve looks brand new, no dirt etc, cannot say if the electrical coil works
-no engine warnings by smartcraft

is it typical for the iac ???

any hints are very appreciated when some of you have been there.

best regards

The hissing is normal, and the IAC muffler is there to reduce the noise of the hiss
Possible issues would be:
IAC, MAP, Vacuum leak (15 - 21 in Hg), fuel pump pressure (43 PSI @ 1800 RPM), fuel pressure regulator (check that vacuum line is attached)

Check across the two pins should be 10.1ohms +-2% if out of spec time to change
