Hello,
I have bought an Evinrude E75ELCRD which needs a piston change.
I need advice as to how to take the engine appart without loosing or breaking any parts.

Here are some pictures of where I am.

Have removed carbs,
Have removed the base,
Have removed starter and electrical components

I now need to take the engine appart and don't know how to start and don;t have a manual.

Can anyone tell me first how to take off the hydrolic power trim , and then advise how to get the motor off ?

your going to need a manual..the OMC one and no others....different motors have different specifics to disassembly...you need clearance values and torques....

You can do it, but I would not even think about it without the factory shop manual in hand.

Inquire with info@kencook.com about the availability of a French language manual.

You don't need to remove the trim/tilt to overhaul the power head.
Remove the power head and put it on the bench and overhaul it.

Hi,
I want to remove the hydrolic power trim off cause I want to see if I can switch it with my manual one on another motoer I have BE75ECCA they look pretty similar.

Is there a specific manual per motor or can I use a generic one ?
I have found 2.

Johnson Evinrude Outboards 60-235HP 1973-1991 Repair Manual 3 Cylinder & V4, V6, 2 Stroke - Seloc

and

Evinrude/Johnson 48-235 HP Outboards (includes Sea Drives), 1973-1990

I have managed to get a copy of the second one but need to know if the first on is more specific to 3 cyl engine ?

I cannot find any OMC manuals ? Are Seloc and OMC manuals the same thing?
If not can anyone poste me the URL of the OMC manual I need to buy?

I think I am going to need to buy some US spanners as my french spanners seem to be slightly different in size ? I have a bolt where 14 spanner is too small and 15 is to big.

the factory shop manual:
http://www.marineengine.com/parts/p...pe=Service+Manual&Engine=394678&Model=75ELCRD

Seloc is ok, but not good enough. I have both.

The fasteners on our modern cars and trucks are metric, but these old motors are sized in inches. But note that we don't have "spanners", we have "wrenches" instead.

The metric system never really caught on in the states, unless you count the popularity of the nine millimeter bullet. :)

Perfect,

I guess I'll have to buy some wrenches then, and looks like it would have been cheeper to buy a 9mm than to buy the OMC manual..

I hope its as complete as it looks.

Thanks again.

I'm really starting to learn hands on but its not a problem if I fail on the E75ELCRD as long as it helps me with the BE75ECCA when I have solved the prop issue you helped me with in

thanks !
